A little more inspiration

Firstly, I wanted to say hello and welcome to all the recent followers here at Unstampabelles. 

Four in the last day.  :-)

This is a card from Cathy that she made for here sister's 50th birthday using more quilling techniques.  Cathy has teamed the quilled flowers with roses and paper punched shapes.  Visit Cathy's blog to see some more examples of quilling.

I was lucky enough to receive this beautiful card from a friend.  She bought it on a recent trip to Malaysia.  Isn't it stunning....the Hibiscus and buds are all quilled....so fine and tightly rolled.

Only two days left for this challenge but still plenty of time to try this wonderful technique for the first time, revisit a fun technique that you have forgotten or to wow us with a technique that you now continually work on - Quilling - enter here.

Halfway Inspiration for Challenge #21 - Quilling

Thanks to everyone for sharing their wonderful quilled creations so far.  There are so many styles that have been entered it is a pleasure to visit and terrific inspiration.  Speaking of which, here are some more creations from the Design Team and Guest Designer - Pooja to inspire you.

I, (Merry) mucked up here......Pooja made these wonderful tags for our halfway post of our Doily challenge for last month.  Because of the wonderful quilling on the tag Merry had it in her head they were for the March challenge and forgot to upload them when Pooja was our Guest Designer in February.  I apologise but still would like to share Pooja's wonderful work and it is very apt for our current challenge. 

These cute little critters have been made by JanR.

JanR points out that if you want a lovely neat look it is best to purchase your quilling strips from a shop that specialises in quilling rather than just anyone online.  The elephant is a little jagged on the edges as the strips of paper were bought from a small store online and they appeared be just regular construction paper and frayed on the edges.  Unlike the frog and the crab which were strips bought from someone specialising in quilling.

Lauren just had to have another go at quilling and created this beautiful snowflake for her scrapbook page layout.  Lauren used this wonderful tutorial by Reese Dixon.

Susan found a tutorial in magazine and made these wonderful styled flowers.  You will notice that Susan has also added a stamped sentiment .... this is allowed in the rules as long as you keep it to four words or less.

Merry wanted to try something 3D this time round.  So she created this vase which stand approx 6cm high.  Merry started with a circle chipboard base and slowly added rows of a variety of quilled shapes and sizes.

Hi everyone, Firstly, my (Merry) apologies for the lateness of the post for our newest challenge, travel, lack of sleep and head cold and not being organised are my excuses.  Getting back on track now. :-)

Thanks so much to those that took up our Doily challenge during February.  

Before we go on we would like to announce our Design Team Favourite for challenge #20.  Even though there were a smaller number of entries this did not make the job any easier for the Design Team as those that entered had such fantastic work.

Now it's time to see some ideas on how you can add Quilling to your papercraft creations.

Please don't discount this challenge immediately.  The majority of the Design Team have never done quilling before. However, they have said that they did really enjoy the challenge and the end results.  Time to step outside the square on this one.

used recycled kraft card case, vine MFT die-namics, alpha stickers for sentiment, 

button for flower centre and quilled butterfly wings and flower petals. Jessica has no quilling tools so used needle nose tweezers to scroll the paper.

Lauren

used left over printer paper to create these clouds.  Lauren has never done quilling before so had no tools. 

Sarah

has never attempted quilling before, and was pretty hesitant at what kind of jumble she might create, but with a little patience and a bit of glue, Sarah fell in love with this style of papercraft. 

Susan

has terrific step by step photos on her blog and also some great links and suggestions on trying quilling. Yes, this is a first for Susan too.

 Beth

to create the large flower Beth used two different tones of paper to create the petals, which are then glued together. the centre of the flower is tight coil.

 Cathy

has quilled a variety of flowers on this card with some lovely flourish like leaves.

Time for you to cut some paper down and have a try at some quilling.

Halfway Inspiration for Challenge #20 - Use a Doily

So great to see all the pretty Doilies that have used in your creations.  Here we have a couple more projects to inspire you this month. 

 The card above is from Beth who placed an image sticker onto vellum and then fussy cut.  The background is made up of the doily and the negative bits left over from a Cheery Lynn die.  The sentiment is all the way from N. Ireland given to Beth by her sister.

Merry decided it was time for a bit of origami so has used this wonderful tutorial here for the Doily Doves. Merry then threaded the doves and beads onto white cotton to create a lovely hanging decoration.

Merry thought it was time for a change around here too and asked Lynn at Lynn's Designer Digitals to come up with a new banner for us.  Don't you love how Lynn has included the wonderful works of our Design Team.  I hope you like our fresher look.  Be sure to pop on over to see what Lynn is up to as she is very helpful and a wonderful price too. :-)

Unstampabelles Challenge #20 - Doilies (No stamps Rubber or Digital)

What an amazing start to the year for us here at Unstampabelles with 77 entries.  Thanks so much for taking the time to come and visit and add you creations to the list.  We (the Design Team) have enjoyed visiting and seeing how each item was created.   I know you are all waiting patiently so I best get on to some important issues.  The Design Team Favourite.  Now this was definitely hard work this month, in the end it was that a coin had to be flipped.  Our Design Team Favourite for our January challenge all about Dies is .........

Unstampabelles Challenge #20 - Use a Doily

Lauren has used three of the cutest mini crocheted doilies on her layout along with a lot of items from Kaisercraft.  Visit Lauren's blog Let's Get Messy for more details.

Merry has used her doily as a background to this layered flower creation.  Finished the card off with a beaded pin, torn paper leaves and a rub-on sentiment.  You can find more details on Merry's blog - MerryMade Cards and Crafts

Sarah has used such wonderful bright colours on her creation with rub-on flowers and sentiment.  She has used her doily to add ruffles and texture to the card.  Find out more details on Sarah's blog - Paper Pie.

Susan has used a different technique to add her doily. Susan has used her Copic air system with three complimentary colours to spray over a doily....then removed to reveal this lovely pattern. You can find out more details on Susan's blog - Time to Play.

Beth gives a great example of how we like to see any images that are added to creation entries for our challenge.  Her image is a Holly Hobby 3D Paper Tole.  Beth has cut her doily in half to create a wonderful background for this card.  Visit Beth's blog - HuggiesCrafts for more details.
