Winners for August and more of Challenge#50

OK, our current challenge is

Boys will be Boys
(or Boyz, as I call 'em)

and our current twist required you to write a few words of wisdom about what makes a good male card/tag/gift box/project in your opinion IN YOUR BLOG/JOURNAL

We want to share ideas around as so many people seem to find making something for a male is a bit difficult - I think it is just a bit hard to come up with an initial idea

So......we have lots of inspiration for you this month!

Firstly though, here are our winners from August

To win this package of lace

it is......drum roll........
Random Number Draw Winner: No 8 - Spanish Crafter

There is a lot going on here - love the die cut!

Congratulations Wendy

DT Favourite

There is no prize for the following - only much honor and glory
Can you see us genuflecting?
Well deserved as the work presented this month was outstanding

The DT Favourite(s) - yes, two this month, in no particular order

and
2015_08_20

Congratulations to you both

Now, we have two Guest Designers this month,
and I would firstly like to introduce to you

She describes herself as "a textile designer goes berserk with paper, glue and scissors, occasionally with jewelry and other crafts"

This is her piece or triptych - theme is male friendship. Groups of 3, two and a solitary chap.
- numbers are plywood, painted to resemble metal.
I do love Alice's work as she uses cloth so easily and comes to a project from such a quirky point of view, plus her work always has an interesting narrative.

PLUS

Our second designer is Lucyna
Her blog is Go Bravely

Let me thank you all for the opportunity to be your Guest Designer at Unstampabelles.
A little about me:

My name is Lucyna Marynowska, aka Lula from http://ululi.blogspot.com/

I come from the north of Poland. Fifty-six, part time working widow, mum
of two grown up boys and a proud grandma.
I started my crafting journey 3 years ago as a card maker and immediately
became an addicted paper-lover. My latest craze is playing with mixed
medias and altering things.

My beloved husband has passed away recently and I found true solace in
crafting.
I love challenges to spark my creativity and I love making crafty friends
all over the world.

This is my take on the theme: Boys will be Boys.
I altered a perfume box for a birthday gift to my nephew. I have used some ink through the stencil, some
washi tape and die cuts from Rewind Collection by Kaisercraft.

Hope you like it!

What makes a good man card ( or gift box)?

In my opinion:
1. You shouldn't use pink colour.
2. You should limit your embellishments.
3. Try to keep it simple.
3. Humorous inscription is very desirable.

Crafty hugs to all
Lucyna

Again Lucyna has an unusual take on her subjects, and her style really appeals to me - I love too the fact that she has altered a perfume box for her nephew! So ironic.

How is that for some inspiration for our current challenge?
If you were wondering if you should enter it, here is the prize offered to the random winner, and you cannot win it if you don't enter!

Lastly, here is my take on a quick pair of male cards

Using a sheet from Acid Drops

Let us see your work by entering it

Hello Peeps, sorry about the stuff up today, I was having some computer problems - mainly my brain not working along with the technology! Anyhoo, we are off to a start now.....

The twist is to journal about what makes a good male card in your own opinion!

September -the prize will be decoupage and sticker sheets.

The team have a great idea about what makes a good male card - have a look at these!

Last week of Challenge #49: White on White

What an amazing collection of beautiful things people are making for this challenge - please remember though, NO STAMPS, even tiny ones as it is unpleasant to have to disqualify someone when their project is so beautiful and time and effort has gone into creating it. There are some beautiful items entered so far - but we are always looking for more!

I must say the Design Team have created some simply stunning things under this theme, and such a variety of things too - plenty to inspire you as you still have five days to get something made and entered in the challenge.

Remember the theme is White on White
and the twist is to introduce ONE other colour.

Here is even more inspiration from the DT!

Such a personalised decoration for someone...

What can I say - I have a lot of dies.....

Jen Leeflang

I suggest you go to Jen's blog as I think she might have a link to the tutorial to make these beautiful things!

Berina

Another elegant creation

The prize for the challenge

If you go

you can leave your entry!
Remember, it closes at midnight on the 28th August, Aust. Standard Time

Challenge#49: Midway

Hello Peeps!

Have we got some amazing inspiration for you for our current challenge! Remember, it is White on White, with a touch of one other colour. I can hardly believe some of the ways the DT have interpreted this challenge - working in paper and/or applying paper crafter techniques and working without using any stamps at all.

We swing from off-the-page items, jewelry and furnishing to lovely cards.

There is a prize of course (random selection)
The widest lace is 14 cm approx

and we also have a DT Favourite announced each month

Look at these!

Quilled Orchid jewellery

and finally

and then there were two!

Zentangling with gold pens on paper mache deer

There must be something in all this inspiration over the last three posts that inspire you and urge you to get involved?
If you are feeling that creative urge, get going to the workshop/space and give in to it!

Then go

and upload your work to show us what you have done!
Happy Crafting!

10 August 2015

Time for the July Winner!

Welcome to week two of the August Challenge - White on white!
The twist is to add ONE colour
It is a bit appropriate as it turns out!

You may or may not be aware that the weather predictions were correct and we have had a big dump of snow in Hobart in the last week, down to sea level. Not as bad as 1986, but nearly! We get very excited about snow because it is a fairly rare event, and to get it to sea level is just amazing! However, as I am writing this up it is a sun shiny and blue day and warmer temps all round but the snow is lingering on the hills.

OK now about the challenge - for this challenge we have a prize:

A packet of lace

So July - we had some amazing entries for this challenge; such interesting takes of the theme

Who won in July?  Well, it was

No 5 - My Specialist

This is apparently a Moo!

Congratulations Zoe! Prize on its way!

The DT Favourite was

No 6 - Sindu

This is an aarathi plate or beautifully quilled garden

Congratulations Sindu!

In other news we have a new team member:

I'm Berina. I'm from India, currently living in Park Ridge, New Jersey with my husband and 20 month old daughter. I've been crafting in some way or other, right from my childhood. I used to make simple greeting cards for my family, learnt to make both fabric as well as paper flowers, tried my hand at embroidery, learnt to crochet and made some jewelry. I started blogging only a few years ago and that is when I came to know about the awesome world of paper crafting and blogging. From then on, there's no stopping. I like to experiment new styles and techniques. I love to learn new stuff and get creative. I create CAS cards as well as layered cards and everything in between. I love the simplicity of the CAS cards and the beauty of cards with layers and lots of embellishments. Like most of us, I find crafting to be really a stress buster.

Welcome Berina and we cannot wait to see some more examples of your beautiful work

More news......last month I promised if we got to 300 followers I would offer a prize

Well, we are there!
So....
Winner of the random draw from the last 10 followers to join, once we had got to 300 is......

Lucyna Marynowska!

Congratulations Lucyna - prize is on it's way

Thanks to all of our followers, and welcome also to our newest followers - I hope you enjoy our little blog and our challenges!

Do you want some more inspiration for the challenge?
What about these?

Challenge#49: White on White

The TWIST for August is to add just one other colour!

The Prize is

A packet of lace!

Your project (it does not have to be a card) will be predominantly white and there can be a touch of one other colour added to it if you are also doing the TWIST.

It is winter here (well, perhaps not officially now but it still feels very much like it!) and the predictions for today is for lots of snow, down to the city - which is like saying down to sea level nearly. The last time we had snow in the city, schools were closed and people could not travel to work. It was nearly 30 years ago. This will be interesting!!

However, meanwhile there has been lots of beautiful whiteness on the mountain

However, down near the river edge.....

This one below was in the river near the docks Saturday

Yes, dolphins.....

This was taken in one of the beach suburbs on Friday

I do love my home state - so many different moods and views.....

On with the challenge!

What has the DT come up with you ask?

      White plus silver mat.

White and Gold Mixed Media Canvas

Isn't the DT amazing!
Now, over to you!

Remember, the winner's for July will be announced next week, so we will see you back then with some more news and inspiration. In the meantime, see what you can create - over to you!

NO Stamps please

Last Post for July Challenge#48: Bunch of Flowers

Hello Peeps

I was just looking through the entries for this month and realising how clever people are to create some of their amazing pieces: and then there is the super work of the DT. They just blow me away!

You have a week left to enter the current challenge. We are heading into spring at a fast clip, and there are already lambs and other small animals making their way into the world. This Mum sheep and her two lambs, photographed near Dunally - the town that was devastated by fire two years ago - are certainly making the most of the good winter feed!

Greg Faull photo

I quite like a lamb roast - don't you!

A Reminder:  the challenge for July is to Grab a Bunch - of Flowers!
Get creative and make some flowers - in fact the twist is to make a garden!

Prize

Other Stuff:
  1. Still need more people to join up as followers to make the 300 so that a prize will be announced! It will be a random draw from the last 10 people to join for the prize once it reaches 300+.
  2. As mentioned earlier, we have said goodbye to several of the Design Team this month - therefore we have some places to fill if you are interested in joining. If you would like to be part of the team, please send me an email with a link to your blog or display page and reasons why you think you would be a good fit with our ideals and team - suhogan(@)gmail(dot)com
Now we still have a couple of new pieces of work for you to look at - and admire - and get inspired to create.

Flowers made with die cuts

Some rolled flowers, this time!

Quilled Watering can with flowers

While my flower making is not the most creative or amazing, unlike Shylaa's wonderful flowers, I know there are some of you out there who are fabulous at creating roses, and similar! We would love to see your attempts and look forward to your entry.
